Covid has made it hard to be near the ones you love and care about most, especially if you are in a long-distance relationship. It is not as easy or safe to pack up and visit your significant other during these times. But, fortunately, there are a few ways that you can stay close and connected.

Netflix Party-

Who doesn’t love a good Netflix binge? Netflix party allows you to watch a show or movie with someone in a live chat room. One of my favorite, and most convenient features of Netflix party, is if one person pauses, it pauses for the other person. This stops the well-known frustration of one person lagging while one gets ahead; or continuously asking for time stamps. You can share a screen virtually.

Dive into a new movie or show, stick to your comfort movie or show, and carve out special movie night dates. Try to make it a routine if you can; see if you all have a consistent free day or night. For example, you can schedule a movie night on Friday night at 8, and this can give you both something to look forward to.

Facetime

The past year has many people zoomed out, but it is nothing like a good Facetime to chat and see each other’s faces. This may be in you all’s regular routine but try to designate time just for you all. Although the world is different, time is still going quickly, and little things can get away. Make time just for that call.

Game night

Get your game face on because it’s game time. Instead, you all play a game on a console or pull out a little competitive fun. Keep track of the number of wins you have, and the loser has to buy lunch, Starbucks, or anything you all want.

Letters

Take it back to the good ole days and write each other letters; this is a cute and somewhat lost gesture that means a lot. You all can pick topics to talk about or keep the conversation going. You both can keep and cherish them. The anticipation may get to you, but it gives you both something to look forward to.

Playlist

Everyone loves a good playlist, but a personalized one hits like no other. It lets the person know that you took the time to think about them and pay attention to the small things. It can be a combination of songs that remind you of them, their favorite songs, and even spelling out their name through song titles. So, even though you all might be apart, they can think of you when they press play.
